Absract. Peyo Yavorov’s memoir presents the dramatic time of discordance - a time in which, instead of centripetal sentiments ruling, centrifugal ones swirl in which everyone finds individual salvation. The Macedonia case reveals the painful inability of sons to be brothers. Separation, doubt, constant fear of betrayal are dominant motifs in the text. Homeland turns out to be an unfeasible project because
the idea of brotherhood is missing. The text examines the biblical imagery used by
Yavorov and focuses on specific re-semanticizations. The propaganda word in th
text does not arouse trust, but doubts the purity of the motives, selfish goals ar
attributed to it. The failure of unity is shown to be the result of mixing personal biases and struggles with the national cause.
