Modernity is an aspect of language development in modern tongues, when borrowings from other languages, or international vocabulary, become part of their inventory. Such modernization drags words into language which become internalized in group, at various periods, or as individual lexical items whose semanticity has undergone changes in their original language (semantic neologisms). The most common case for semantic neologisms in recent years is to be borrowed from the English language. Another issue for discussion is the tendency for international vocabulary to in\ufb02 uence a number of tongues, at the same time, and respectively, the native languages whose vocabulary has been the source of such tendencies. The article considers words such as the French glamour or the English creative (with the derivative forms coined on them as borrowings), also the French gourmet and the English partner (also marked for gender as a borrowing).
